Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at reconnecttherapies@outlook.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Counselling sessions can help you to gain clarity on an issue, change old patterns, untangle complex personal issues, or embark on a journey of self-development. You may seek counselling as a result of a crisis, or you may be encouraged to seek counselling by family members, friends or colleagues.

The length of your treatment will very much depend on your unique circumstances. We recommend six sessions followed by a review to discuss your needs.

Keep in mind that once you start sessions, new issues and angles can arise you were not aware existed that you then want to explore. It is of course also possible to see improvement faster than you expected. In summary, it is best to keep an open mind over how long you will be in therapy, and discuss it with your therapist

Currently the fee is £45per session. The counselling fee is subject to review every year. I offer limited reduced rate sessions for those experiencing financial hardships.

Once you have agreed to a mutually convenient slot within the first one or two sessions with your therapist, you will be allocated to the same day and time on an ongoing basis. In the case of an occasional emergency where you need another slot, it is in some instances possible to change if therapists have a session become available, but it is not a guarantee.

Qualified Counsellors can be checked on the BACP Register- British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy - https://www.bacp.co.uk/about-therapy/how-to-find-a-therapist/

Sessions are usually weekly at the same time each week and last 50mins.

I offer one-to-one regular 50 minute counselling sessions for adults  that are usually at the same time and day every week. Depending on the needs of each individual, I see people on a open-ended or time limited basis, with regular reviews of how you and I feel the work is going to ensure we are addressing the most important issues for you.

Payment  for counselling session  can be made by bank transfer either prior  to session or on the same day of each weekly session.

An Initial Consultation provides you with a safe and confidential space to begin to explore the issues that are troubling you and decide whether counselling is right for you. A qualified counsellor will ask you questions about your current difficulties, the impact they are having on your life and aspects of your personal history. You will also identify your goals of therapy, essentially what you would like to achieve from counselling.

This also provides an opportunity for you to ask any questions that you may have and decide if working together is the right next step.

Your counsellor provides a safe environment in which to explore your issues and will be highly trained in listening and reflecting. With most types of therapy, you are free to discuss what you wish, from everyday events, dilemmas, feelings, and thoughts, to regrets, aspirations, memories and dreams.

Yes, counselling sessions are confidential. Your therapist is ethically bound to keep what you share private.

Note that registered therapists are obliged to have a supervisor overseeing their work, to ensure they are maintaining a high level of assistance to their clients. While they might discuss the generalities of your case with their supervisor, a therapist would not divulge your identity, and the supervisor would also protect the privacy of any information that is shared.

This is no problem; you can arrange a meeting to decide how to proceed.

As every person is unique, I work in an integrative and holistic way using a combination of counselling modalities e.g. Person centred, Psychodynamic, Solution Based etc as well as with alternative therapies (Meditation, Mindfulness etc.) as needed.

If you would like to explore how counselling can help you and find out if online  or telephone counselling is suitable for you, please call or email me for an initial free no obligation 20-minute telephone call to discuss issues or concerns that you might wish to address in therapy and to help decide if I am the right counsellor for you. This also provides an opportunity for you to ask any questions or concerns that you may have.

It is important that you feel safe and comfortable with your therapist, and this provides an opportunity for you to decide if working together is the right next step. At the end of this free consultation, if you wish to proceed, we will set a day and a time and agree a weekly contact.

We offer counselling across the UK  as all our sessions are online  over Zoom or Telephone. We cover all major areas  of the UK including West Midlands, Birmingham, Bristol, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, London, etc.
